Preparing your Vehicle for Fall Weather

Now that summer is beginning to wind down, it is time to begin thinking about getting your car ready for the onset of fall. Although we still have a few more weeks of warm weather left in Texas, now is a great time to see your auto mechanic to ensure your vehicle is in tip-top shape. Begin by asking your mechanic to have a look at any problems that might inhibit engine performance, including rough idling, diminished power, stalling, etc. Once cold weather sets in, such problems usually only grow worse. In addition, it is a good idea to have dirty air filters replaced. This is also a good time to have the condition and tightness of clamps, hoses, and drive belts checked. Old windshield wiper blades should be replaced in anticipation of rainy weather. If your battery has not been checked lately, you may also wish to have your local auto repair center test it and remove any corrosion that may have built up around the cable connections and posts in the last few months.
